Where do I find lenes for the XL1

Hey,
I was on the Canon XL1 web page looking at the making of the ZR10 commercial. I noticed that on the shoot, they had a whole bunch of different lenes and attachments on the camera. Where do I get the lenes from for the camera?
Also, there was a lens in the making the video for the ZR10 and it was big (1-2 feet long, 1 foot tall), black, and rectangle. What would that be used for?

I don't know much about the XL1 but doesn't it have a traditional zoom function built in?
You could always purchase a wide angle lense but a good zoom bascially equals a whole multitude of lenses in one.

Try B&H, they have absolutely everything at great prices. Sorry, don't have their web sight on hand. They are based out of New York, so you will have to pay s&h.

I believe the big black rectangle thing you are referring to is a matte box. It's used to cut down on extraneous light hitting the lens from the sides as well as attaching filters etc. Gotta love the XL1....it's my dream girl.

They sell & hire lots of accessories and lenses for the XL-1. They also sell their own Fujinon / Optex conversion manual lens which is excellent especially (if you are like me) and hate using the auto focus zooms, with it's dodgy manual focus ring.

i would seriously recomend against optex , ive jsut hired equimpent from them over this weekend gone and there a bunch of muppets, you can get lot better deals elsewhere

Optex aren't cheap, that's true, but they are very innovative with adaptions for kit ie. just look at their range of specialist lenses for DV and Super 16, and they have other specialist kit most of the other hire companies don't bother with. They also keep a huge amount of adapters and accessories for the XL-1.

If they don't know you, then they can be a bit funny with dealing with you, but once they know your face, they can be very, very helpful. I bought a ?600 cinemeter from them, 4 years ago, and their aftersales service have been superb.
